The Federal Government has subsidised the building of 150 base stations in different rural communities with the Universal Service Provision Fund. The Central Bank of Nigeria has sold N172.1bn ($1.1bn) in treasury bills and increased the yield offered on the short-dated paper to mop up liquidity to support the naira. Although the bank did not give reason for the additional N30bn issued, it had said last week that it would auction N142.1bn of treasury bills with maturities of between three months and one year.
