Recently, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) launched the first international outbound money transfer service that allows transfer of funds overseas from Nigeria using the naira instead of the dollar or other foreign exchange denominations. The initiative, according to Godwin Emefiele, the CBN governor, is in line with the apex bank’s payment systems innovation and would address the pressure on the naira and help the country assess the quantum and nature of remittances from Nigeria, outside of the banking system.

The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has reacted to an interview granted to the Sun Newspaper on Monday, October 20, by Nigerian Ambassador to Spain and widow of the late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, where she expressed shock and disappointment at the former governor’s leaving the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She said, inter alia, “It is undeniable that Obi made immense contributions to APGA. I remain proud of his achievements, as governor of Anambra State. His exit diminishes us, and many of his supporters and grassroots crusaders are disappointed and demoralised.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has written a petition to the Inspector-General of Police (IG), urging him to call the former leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVFl), Mr. Mujahid Asari Dokubo, to order and invite him to explain what he means by his threat to resort to self-help. In the letter titled: ‘Threat of violence by Mujahid Asari Dokubo against APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,’ the APC said it views with concern the recourse to self help by Asari-Dokubo over allegation of involvement in the US$9.3 million arms deal in South Africa.

Consider the following expense fraud scenarios: airfare for a cancelled flight, a $50 travel meal of Ketel One and sodas, and pay-per-view movies lumped into the nightly hotel room rate.
