In order to ensure that students from Badagry area of Lagos State have quality access to tertiary education, a lawmaker, Hon. Ibrahim Layode, representing Badagry constituency 1 in the Lagos State Assembly has procured 124 General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms for indigent students.

Layode, who has embarked on several people-oriented programmes since he got into the Assembly in 2007, stated that the project was aimed at assisting the students and their parents in ensuring that they (the students) have the necessary requirements to further their education in higher institutions of learning.

Addressing the students and their parents during the distribution of the forms in his constituency office in Badagry, the lawmaker said “today marks another milestone in our commitment to the development and progress of the Badagry Youth.

“It is a great pleasure and happiness for me and indeed for all lovers of education to witness another stage of educational development in our commitment. I therefore congratulate the Chairman and members of the Committee, who have worked tirelessly over the years to ensure that this programme is delivered year in year out since its commencement”, he added.

Layode promised that the programme would be a continuous exercise, and charged the students to be good ambassadors of Badagry in their various educational pursuits.
The legislator revealed that he would continue to provide progressive programmes that would help in the development of the people of the area.
According to him, “we will continue to work for the development of Badagry and Lagos State as a whole. I am in office to better the lots of my people and I will not rest on my oars until I achieve my desire in this area.”

This year’s beneficiaries of the project, which started about six years ago, included Ogunbi Johnson Oladimeji; Sulaiman Aliu; Tope Olaniyi Abraham; Kayode Sesi Eniola; and Hodonu Sakirat.

While appreciating the gesture of the politician, Oladimeji said the forms would make it easy for him and others to write the exams.

He said Hon. Layode is one of the best public officers in the state and that most of his projects in the semi-urban area since he got to office are masses-oriented.

Oladimeji, who could not contain his joy and excitement, also emphasised that the people of Badagry Constituency 1 would be glad to have him back in office in 2015.
