Nigeria forward Sone Aluko has taken to Twitter to express his joy at seeing Hull City climb back to the Premier League after the Tigers’ three-season spell in the Championship.

Hull City secured a valuable point in their 2-2 home draw with Cardiff City, while their closest rivals in the promotion race, Watford, lost 2-1 to Leeds United.

Aluko, who has made 23 appearances and scored eight goals for the club since his free transfer from Rangers last summer, did not feature in the game due to injury.

He wrote on his Twitter timeline after the game, “Looking forward to the memories of right now!!! What a rollercoaster day of emotions! We did it!!! @hullcityteam WE ARE GOING UP! #SoHappy.”

He added later, “Wow!! This feeling…if God does nothing for me again forever he’s already blessed me beyond was (what) I deserve or imagine!! #Blessed #buzzing.”

Aluko is not the only Nigerian celebrating in English football. Super Eagles defender and Millwall captain, Danny Shittu, is also rejoicing in seeing his side escape relegation on the last day of their campaign.

Millwall lost 1-0 to Derby County but their 56 points were enough to keep them afloat.

It was a different story, however, for Uche Nwofor whose VVV Venlo are condemned to playing in the relegation play-off with Roda JC in the Dutch Eredivisie following their goalless draw with Groningen.

VVV Venlo’s last game against Vitesse will make no difference as they are nine points behind the last safe team in the log.

The duo of Nduka Ozukwo and Raheem Lawal are looking forward to life in the Turkish lower league after seeing their team, Mersin İdmanyurdu, go down 1-0 at home to Elazığspor. They are bottom of the 18-team Turkish Supa Lig.
