The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has said over 423 machines have been deployed in the 18 local government areas of the state for the Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) scheduled to start today.

Among these machines, 23 had been deployed to some wards with difficult terrains and over- populated areas.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mr. Akin Orebiyi, disclosed this in Akure yesterday while addressing stakeholders ahead of the CVR in the state.

Orebiyi explained that the machines with batteries fully charged and generators alongside were deployed to 203 wards to avoid hitches witnessed in the last registration exercise.

According to the INEC commissioner, registration will also take place in polling units where the records of the 2011 registration exercise were lost.

Orebiyi warned the people against multiple registration noting that such people would not be allowed to vote in the general elections.

Meanwhile, the REC said the CVR would not take place in some units in  Owo, Ese Odo, Akure South, Odigbo and Ondo East because of the inability of INEC to issue Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) to the electorate during the just concluded issuance of PVC exercise.

He said INEC were yet to print the PVC of electorate in areas.
Orebiyi said date for the distribution of PVC would be announced later.
The REC therefore urged the people in the affected areas not to panic as such delay would not stop them from performing their civic responsibility.
