News » Politics

The Delta State Police command said it has arrested the suspected killers of a non-academic staff of the Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, recently.

The police public relations officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed this to LEADERSHIP FRIDAY, disclosed that the victim, one David Akiri, alighted from his vehicle to open the gate to his house at the Campus III compound, Abraka, when two boys emerged from the bush and shot him on the leg before they escaped.

DSP Kalu explained that the victim was immediately rushed to the Eku Medical Centre where he later gave up the ghost, adding that prior to proper investigations, detectives at the state CID commenced investigations and arrested the suspects whose names were given as John Joseph, Philips Clinton and Abel Jokohow, saying that the suspects had made confessional statements upon interrogation.

According to Kalu, while investigations are on-going, the suspects will be made to face the full wrath of the law for an offence they have committed and confessed to. He also warned members of the public to stay off trouble, especially youths who engage in cult activities, as the police will do everything possible to bring them to book.
