The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State Chapter has set up a nine-man committee to liaise with the national leadership of the party on the movement of the state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to the party.

A chieftain of the PDP and the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, disclosed this to journalists in Ikare-Akoko during a chat on the outcome of the meeting of the Ondo North senatorial district of the party.

According to him, membership of the committee included representatives from the three senatorial districts of the party.

He disclosed the names of the committee members to include the state party Chairman, Hon. Ebenezer Alabi the  Special Adviser to the President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon Kingsley Kuku; the former Minister of Defence, Mr. Tokunbo Kayode;  Senator Bode Olajumoke and the former governorship candidate, Chief Olusola Oke.

Other members of the committee are the former Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Eddy Olafeso; the Deputy National Youth Leader, Mr. Denis Alonge and Elegbeleye.

Elegbeleye said the party’s relationship with Mimiko and his people would start immediately after he (Mimiko) has declared formally for the PDP.
He expressed the hope that the governor’s declaration would come after the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Labour Party (LP) that would come later this week.

The NSC director general expressed optimism that Mimiko and his political machinery movement to the PDP would be a blessing and advantage to the party.

He said once the governor and his team move to the PDP, it will make things easier for the PDP because elections in the recent time in the state had always been between the LP and the PDP.

Elegbeleye, who said the focus now was on the 2015 national, state assemblies and presidential election, expressed confidence that President Jonathan would win election in the entire South-west and other parts of the country due to the structure on ground.

He said the presidential election was different from other elections and the issue of regionalism would have no place.
