Former Executive Chairman of the National Communications Commission (NCC), Mr. Ernest Ndukwu, is set to challenge former Governor of Anambra State, Senator Andy Uba, for the state South senatorial seat.

This is coming as youths from Delta North senatorial district   petitioned the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the planned imposition of Mrs. Patricia Ajudua as the state House of Assembly candidate for the Oshimili North state constituency.

According to one of the aides of  the former NCC boss, Jude Ifeatu, Ndukwe  would be challenging Uba on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while Uba would contest the election on the platform of the PDP.
Uba is from Uga in Aguata Local Government Area, while Ndukwe is from Oraifite, the home town of Chief Emeka Offor.

Also, youths from Oshimili North state constituency in a petition signed by the  Chief Mathew Joseph Aniolisa and Aniemeka Ezebuilo of Oshimili North state constituency, protested against the imposition of Mrs. Ajudua on the people of Delta North state constituency by top officials of the state government and PDP in the state

According to the leaders of the protest group led by the Anioma Youth Initiative, they said: “The state constituency primary election is yet to take place, but top officials of the state government have said that there is no vacancy for the office of the state assembly for Delta North.

“Yet, this is despite the fact that there is zoning arrangement in the constituency. Hon. Patricia Ajudua, wife of Fred Ajudua, has contested for the same office for three times. Each time, she would defect to Accord Party and later return to the PDP. We are worried about the preferential treatment given to her each time she will leave our party. What about we who have continued to stay back in the party.

“We are surprised that the PDP still extends membership card to her, while at the same time, she is a card carrying member of the Accord Party in Delta State,” the petition read.

The youths threatened that the PDP stands the chance of losing the Oshimili North state constituency should the party insist on fielding Ajudua for the fourth time.

They contended that “the era of monkey working and bamboo eating will no longer work in the state.”

According to the youths, “There is zoning in the PDP constitution and there are other towns that make up the Oshimili North state constituency. It is not only Ibusa, there are other towns and we have other towns like Akwukwu Igbo, Illah, Ebu, Okpanam, Okala Ukpanu.

“If there are nine big towns that comprise Oshimili North state constituency, why must Ibusa continue to represent us for 16 years? Why not allow for a shift and zoning?” they asked.

They urged the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, to intervene and save the PDP from electoral defeat by 2015 in  Oshimili North.
