MTN Launches Cloud Computing Services In Rwanda

News » Technology/Innovation

With the core objective of helping businesses in Rwanda reduce cost and improve productivity, MTN Rwanda has introduced Cloud Computing services to the business landscape in Rwanda.

The cloud offerings are: Cloud Collaboration to enable employees share their official documents anywhere, Cloud Backup to secure documents in the event of data loss, theft or corruption, Cloud Customer Management to enable companies access their customer information anywhere. Also inclusive is a backup service called “MozyPro” for backup and efficient management of files and servers. The services provide automation tools that can be used by all sorts of business enterprises including professional services firms and Small & Medium Scale Enterprises.

Commenting on the launch, Norman Munyampundu, MTN Rwanda Business General Manager said: “As the first telecoms operator to offer cloud services to businesses in Rwanda, MTN will be providing access to ICT services to businesses while helping them minimize their infrastructure costs. Instead of having separate systems for each section in a company, MTN Cloud Services enable these companies to share a common pool of resources and operate more efficiently.”

This launch of Cloud Computing Services will help facilitate Rwanda’s goal to be the ICT hub in the region. Also, the service is expected to enjoy significant patronage by customers as flexible payment options are available via MTN Mobile Money.
