Geraldine Ekeocha: Death of a mother-in-law


With the death of Nollywood actress, Geraldine Ekeocha, on Sunday, the Nigerian entertainment industry has again lost an experienced act.

With the passage, the industry now has four practitioners lying in the mogue, as it had lost three people within the spate of three months.

Currently in the mortuary are lady of songs, Christy Essien-Igbokwe, star actor, Sam Loco Efe, Ekeocha and Bayo Ade, a juju musician killed by kidnappers in Benin, Edo State on Monday.

Ekeocha’s death was first broken on Twitter by Tonto Dikeh, saying, “We lost a great personality in Nollywood yesterday. Sadly enough she was close to me. RIP Aunty Geraldine, God knows best.”

With details of the cause of her death still sketchy, conflicting reports have emerged. Ex-model and blogger, Linda Ikeji, reports that the actress died after a fibroid operation in a hospital in Enugu.

Film, on the other hand, says that Ekeocha, passed on at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, where she battled with breast cancer.

Usually playing the role of a mother-in-law, Ekeocha starred in movies that include After my Heart, A woman’s Authority, One more Kiss, Tears in my Marriage and The Plain Truth. - Nigerian news, entertainment news, nollywood, naija, Nigeria, West Africa
