Dangote Industries Group has said for Nigeria’s economy to be firm, its citizens need to patronise locally-   made  products.

The executive director, Stakeholder Management & Corporate Communications of Dangote Group, Engr. Mansur Ahmed made this known at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair organised by Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI)  in Lagos, yesterday.

He also noted that the emergence of Donald Trump as American President elect was an opportunity to develop Nigeria and Africa at large.

According to him, “Yesterday, Trump became the American president, for us in Nigeria and Africa, I think this particular event should be a waking force, one of the thing that Trump is reported to do was that he will ask Nigerians to go back to their countries and fix it instead of coming to America.

“We must improve the patronage of locally- made goods to encourage our producers.

“Dangote Group have not only consistently invested in the country but have consistently produced for our public and stakeholders those things that we know they need,” he said.

He said the goal of Dangote was to produce everything that was basic to the need of the people and that was why the company was expanding its existing products and going onto new ones.

“Nigeria has the responsibility of the developing Africa because we are the biggest nation and that is why Dangote Group is not limiting its frontier to Nigeria alone but going into the Africa countries,” he said.

He urged the government to provide enabling business environment that would make business to thrive to profitability, saying government should come up with a policy that would attract Nigerians and foreigners to invest in the country.

Also the president of LCCI, Dr. Nike Akande, represented by deputy president, Mr. Babatunde Ruwase, said Dangote Group is a proudly Nigerians company operating in most states of Nigeria and even spreading to other African countries.

She stressed that Dangote Group is a leading employer of human capital in Nigeria’s private sector with a workforce of more than 12,000.

“As we diversify our economy away from oil to majorly agriculture, we call on government to provide a conducive business environment with some high level of economy stability
