Kelly Rowland airs it all out to dry in her latest song “Dirty Laundry.”The recent release, from her upcoming album Talk a Good Game, addresses some of the envy Rowland once had towards her childhood friend and former band-mate Beyoncé Knowles.

But while the emotional song may have shocked fans, Beyoncé was well aware of her friend’s feelings prior to the song’s exposure to the public.

In the song, Rowland sings:

When my sister on stage/killing it like a motherf**ker/I was in a rage/feeling it like a motherf**ker.

“Went our separate ways but I was happy she was killin’ it/Bittersweet she was up, I was down/No lie, I feel good for her but what do I do now?”

However, during a recent interview with a Washington radio station, Rowland admitted that she had played the song to Beyoncé and Michelle Williams before she, and co-writer The-Dream, released it.

What did Beyoncé think of it?

“[She] was just like, ‘I never left.’ Which was so sweet. It was endearing,” Rowland says. “She heard how real I was and she was just like “I’m so proud of you.’”
