Former Accountant-General of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, at the weekend said the All Progressives Congress (APC) represented an answer to Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.

Ambode, who is one of the leading governorship aspirants in the state, shared this vision as he disclosed plans to formally unveil his campaign office in Gbagada today.

He spoke at an inaugural Leadership Lecture Series organised by a political action committee, ‘For the Future Nigeria,’ an affiliate of the APC in Victoria Island, Lagos
At the lecture, Ambode said APC had developed a pro-poor programme to unlock growth and progress in Nigeria, noting that it “is an alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

He said the APC had diverse all-inclusive strategies “to give all Nigerians the tools to get out of poverty and penury to a better life for themselves and their families.”

He acknowledged the good works the previous administrations had done in the state since the tenure of Alhaji Lateef Jakande through the era of Senator Bola Tinubu and his successor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.

He said he was opportune to work with seven governors, which he said, had sufficiently equipped him for the task of putting Lagos on a good standing for massive investments and sustainable growth.

Ambode envisioned a all-inclusive economy in Lagos, where public transportation would run 24 hours; security of lives and properties guarantee; environment cleaner and safer; and economic activities sleepless

He said in a statement that no fewer than ten thousand of his supporters across the state would join him today while unveiling his campaign office.

He said the unveiling of the campaign office would offer him rare opportunity “to interact with his supporters from the nook and crannies of state. The women and youth wing of the organisations will also be unveiled at the event.”

Ambode said his vision to be the next governor of Lagos State “is out of his burning desire to consolidate on the foundation laid by Tinubu and built upon by Fashola,” noting that both of them had served the state excellently.

The former Accountant General of the state who hails from Epe, will also use the opportunity to interact with his supporters across the nook and crannies of State.
The women and youth wing of the organisations will also be unveiled at the event.

He therefore, described Tinubu as the pathfinder of modern Lagos and Fashola as the actualiser of modern Lagos.

He said he had served as labourer and carpenter in the project of Lagos for 27 years out of the 47 years of existence of the state, which he said, had eminently qualified “to serve as the Project manager in taking Lagos to the next level.”

Speaking on Lagos debt profile, Ambode refuted allegations that the ruling APC government had saddled the state with unmanageable debt.

Rather, Ambode explained that debt should never be analysed in isolation, but should be considered in relation to the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
