Over 196 youths organisations cutting across all the 21 local government areas in Adamawa State yesterday endorsed the aspiration of the acting Governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, to contest the October 11 by-election.

The youth organisations under the Adamawa State chapter of  National Youth Council of Nigeria, said the reason there are behind Fintiri’s endorsement was because of his effort to rescue the Adamawa people from abject poverty.

Speaking at a briefing in Yola, the spokesman of the organisations, Mr. Sunday Kadiri, said the acting governor had so far given a good account of himself as a good ambassador of the youths.

Kadiri said the intervention of the state assembly under the leadership of Fintiri in removing Murtala Nyako and what he has done so far had brought a new lease of life to the state.

“The council has been keenly observing situations as they manifest in the state. Having passed through neglect, underdevelopment and uncertainty in the state, the house of assembly under Fintiri came to the rescue,” Kadiri said.

He urged the people of Adamawa particularly the youths to support and work for the actualisation of the aspiration of the acting governor.

“We also call upon the PDP stalwarts, the party and the entire people of Adamawa State to reason with popular choice and allow the acting governor to emerge as the next governor.

“As a member he came, as a legislator he saw, and as a speaker he conquered by salvaging the unfortunate situation that the state has found itself with the support of the honourable members of the House of Assembly,”  Kadiri said.

However, in another development, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has disclosed that his credentials may be intimidating to some political actors within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ribadu said as a result of that these, some politicians had vowed to stop at nothing to dent his image aimed at forestalling his political ambition of contesting for the Adamawa governorship by-election slated for October 11, 2014.

Ribadu, who is one of the 14 PDP gubernatorial aspirants who were in the PDP headquarters in Abuja to be screened for the party primary, boasted that his credentials would see him through the screening process and the forthcoming PDP primary in the state.

He maintained that he would not be intimidated by distractors and those who are scheming to pull him down at all cost in his mission to salvage the state.

Ribadu, who spoke to journalists in Yola yesterday through his spokesman on political matters, Mr. Phineas Elisha, said the former anti-graft boss was not bothered by some sponsored publications in national dailies, accusing him of recruiting Nyako loyalists in his campaign entourage.

He lamented that some gubernatorial aspirants in the state had employed the services of columnists to write negative and malicious stories against Ribadu  ahead of the PDP primary.

According to him, on August 25, one Aliyu Baba in  an  advertorial in the Leadership Newspaper titled: ‘Ribadu a clear extension of Murtala Nyako’s administration” disparaged the former EFCC boss.

He stressed that the publication was sponsored with a bad  motive to pass wrong signals to the people of the state and discredit Ribadu’s credibility.

“Ribadu has an excellent records throughout his career and his intention to seek the governorship seat is for the best interest of the people of the Adamawa and no individual can stop him,” Elisha said.

He said the advertorial lacked sense of direction by claiming that that the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Kobis Ari-Thimnu was one of those financing  the Ribadu campaign organisation.

Elisha said Ribadu did not receive any donation from the former SSG and wondered where Aliyu Baba Wade got his misguided information from that  about one billion naira has been spent  by Nyako loyalists, to woo supporters for Ribadu.

He challenged Wade to come out publicly with his proof that the former SSG Kobis Aris bought and distributed over 80 vehicles to politicians and certain personalities in the state  just to get
their support to Ribadu.
