The Vale College is founded by Solemilia Educational Trust and was inaugurated as a co-educational secondary school on Monday November 7, 1994. Since the establishment of The Vale college , the school has continued to exemplarily distinguish itself by providing holistic education, as evident from the students we graduate each year, true to our watchword “Character and Learning”.

The College is located in the heart of a minimum density Government Reservation Area – 23a Adetokunbo Ademola Road, Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan – away from city traffic and noise; an ideal setting for learning.

The Vale College gives our young ladies and gentlemen a good solid educational base. The college offers a total education with the aim of producing young women and men of character and learning.

The Vale Tutorial College (TVTC) an offshoot of Vale College is a specialist Sixth Form College, a veritable place for your success in academics, moral and future career. We specialize in A-level examinations that qualify students for the U.K. universities or for direct entry to 200 Level in Nigerian universities. We also provide coaching in SAT and TOEFL, for students wishing to pursue university education in the U.S.A.

The Vale College has maximum capacity for 50 new students anually in JSS1 and fills existing vacancies in JSS2, SSS1 and SSS2. Every class in the college is divided into 2 arms of not more than 25 students each.

Students are presented for the Oyo State and the National Examinations Council (NECO) Junior Secondary School Certificate Examinations which they take in JSS3.

Senior students (SSS1-SSS3) are prepared for both the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for which they are presented in SSS3. However, our curriculum is designed to include JAMB examination syllabus.



The College prepares students for the JSSC examination in the following subjects

English, Mathematics, Agric Science, Fine Art, Christian Religious Knowledge, Business Studies, Physical and Health Education. Home Economics, Integrated Science, Introductory Technology, Yoruba / Hausa / Igbo, Social Studies, French and Music.

* At the end of JSS3, each student is presented for a maximum of 12 subjects (NBEM) and 13 subjects for the JSSCE (Oyo State)

Subjects offered at the Senior Secondary School level are:

English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Yoruba, Commerce, French, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric Science, Technical Drawing, Economics, Food and Nutrition, Accounts and Christian Religious Studies.

* History, Government, Hausa and Igbo can be added depending on demand.
All SSS1 Year 1 students take 11-12 subjects. All SSS2 students must pass 9 relevant subjects to proceed to SSS3. SSS2 students are also forbidden to take any external examinations.

Assessment and Reports

Students are assessed continuously, and reports of the continuous assessment are available to parents twice a term: at mid-term for viewing and in written form at the end of the term, with the examination results. A comprehensive report with comments is issued at the end of the term.

Co-curricular Activities


Students of The Vale College engage in a wide range of indoor and outdoor sporting activties. Students are divided into activity groups to maintain maximum participation in sporting activities and competitions.The college interhouse sports competition takes place biennially. The houses are Ruby, Amethyst, Emerald and Sapphire – names of precious stones.


Other co-curricular activities include Drama, Music, Fine Art, Clubs and Societies. These we believe would help us produce young men and women of both character and learning.

The Boarding House


The Vale College offers full boarding facilities with separate hostels for boys and girls under supervision of resident house master and matron. The college has its own electrical transformer, borehole and water treatment facility, and generating plant to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply.


Boarding students must obtain written exeats before leaving the college premises except when they are led out by staff on official duty.


The college retains the services of a private hospital to deal with serious health matters. Other minor matters are handled by the matron who is a qualified registered nurse.

Parents’ Visiting Days

Parents of boarding students may visit them according to the College Calender (Usually the third sunday after resumption from holiday or from mid-term break).

Daily Routine

For the day students, the school opens at 7.30am and closes at 5.00pm. Formal lesons take place between 8.00am and 2.00pm. Lunch is served to all students at 2.00pm to be followed by compulsory prep. The day ends with sports and co-curricular activities. Practical science classes are arranged for the senior classes in the afternoons and on Saturdays to afford adequate time.

Our Admission Policy

Students are admitted into the JSS1 and SSS1 classes through the annual entrance examination. All applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee and complete the applicaton form.

Admission of students is strictly by the applicant’s age, proven ability and level of maturity at the time of application. Positive past records in former school(s) or college(s) are assets to any applicant.

Transfer and Withdrawal


All those seeking transfer into the College must take the relevant tests and produce past records of performance if admitted. Transfer admission is strictly both by ability to cope with the workload and the existence of vacancy in the class desired. All applicants for transfer must pay a non-refundable application fee.


A withdrawal notice of three months or one term is required of any student who wants to go away except through SSS 3 graduation. A term’s fee is payable in lieu of this notice.

School Fees

All tuition and boarding fees are due and payable at the time of registration but not later than the first day of every term. The Vale College does not accept into the hostel or class, any student who has not fully paid for that term.

An acceptance fee is charged to all new students.

Payments may be made in Naira or any international currency. All payments are to be made through the College’s bank account. Cash payment is not acceptable. Bank Tellers for payment of fees are available on demand.

At TVTC, students acquire more than just academic education –  we believe in empowering students to take on life challenges,  inculcating in them life altering concepts which makes ‘learning’ an inspiration in itself. The A-level program runs over a period of one to two years.  A-Levels are recognised by Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions throughout the world, as the standard for assessing the suitability of applicants for university level academic courses.  TVTC is affiliated with the Oxbridge Tutorial College, Lagos.

TVTC offers two options of A-Level programmes:

  1. Traditional 2 year A-level programme
  2. Accelerated A-Levels (2 years condensed into one). The accelerated course caters only for those deemed capable based on age and entry level qualifications

The methods of instruction at TVTC include brainstorming sessions where interactions and free flow of ideas on subjects are promoted. Where applicable, one to one tutoring is provided to make sure that everybody is involved at all stages, ensuring holistic development at both academic and personal levels. State-of-the-art computers and internet connectivity on campus, with dedicated labs for physics, chemistry and biology, give our students access to the most up-to-date materials available. Students at TVTC are trained to become global citizens who can compete at global standards. They are also encouraged to complement each other as team-players and build enduring friendships that last a lifetime.

Beyond giving the students passport for progression to the university or employment, the school through the students skills in the following:

  • Admission Requirement:    Interested students must have completed the SSCE and obtained a minimum of 6 credits, including Mathematics and English. Our student Master oluwatodimu Adefeso of JSS3 has won the State level of the National Science Olympiad. He is the only one  representing Oyo State at the National finals held in National and Mathematical Centre in Abuja from tomorrow 14/05/2012. onwards.







For the second time, a JS2 student of The Vale College, Ibadan emerged winner of the TV quiz show ‘Who wants to be a millionaire?’ On Saturday 5th May, Oladipo Olaoye a JSS2 student of The Vale College won N2m on the Children’s Edition of the reputable quiz show. 5 years ago, Mubarak Alaaya of the same school won N1m on the same show.






School placed 1st in Girls Volleyball, 2nd in Boys Volleyball, 3rd in Boys Basket ball and 3rd in Table Tennis at Oyo State Private School Sports fiesta organized by St. Theresia Minor Seminary Ibadan.
