The Ministry of Police Affairs is the only Ministry charged with responsibility of overseeing the affairs of the Nigeria Police Force and officers and men of the Police Force. The Ministry is unique when compared to other Ministries on the basis of its statutory mandate as enshrined in section 5, 147 and 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which include:-
To formulate policies and provide Administrative Support for the
Ministry, the Police Council and the Nigeria Police. Oversee the training and welfare matters of the Police, Police Pensions Administration, and any other matters as may be assigned by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Chairman Nigeria Police Council.
Purpose of Charter
The purpose of this charter is to practicalise the commitment of this Administration to the improvement of the Public Service delivery as it relates to the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Nigeria Police Force; by informing the public and the consumers of the services rendered by the
Federal Ministry of Police Affairs to seek redress if any and when such services have fallen short of expectations.
